The Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

I love that quote. It inspires me to open my eyes wider and appreciate the blessing in the lesson, there are many blessing to be thankful for indeed!

Image I was honored in October to be nominated for Sunshine Blogger Award by Melissa Reyes (AKA Miz Meliz) –Thank you Melissa, I am truly grateful!

Life is very busy for me these days. Admittedly, I haven’t had nearly enough time to write on my blog, and I miss it dearly.  Writing feeds me in a way that nothing else does. It takes me away and grounds me at the same time.  It frees my mind up from things I have been holding on to and gives me a chance to be creative.  I sometimes forget how important it is for me to write regularly. The Sunshine Blogger Award nomination reminds me of that and encouraged me not to let things I tend to put in my own path, get in the way of my writing.  After all, we all need to be nourished in order to thrive.

The “rules” of the award are:

  1. Include the Award Logo in your blog post.
  2. Link to the person who nominated you.
  3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

Along with the honor of receiving the Sunshine Award, there is a tradition of asking and answering questions so that we can get to know one another better.  For those who I have nominated, I understand if you prefer not to answer the questions.

I figure, why not, seems like a good way to get to know each other a bit more. SO, here goes…

Along with the honor of receiving the Sunshine Award, there is a tradition of asking and answering questions so that we can get to know one another better.  For those who I have nominated, I understand if you prefer not to answer the questions

1-If you couldn’t blog anymore, what would your “outlet” be?

I always have a thousand things going on  so finding something wouldn’t be a problem, however as I mentioned I really need to write, so I would likely grab and pencil and start up again in the journal my sons gave me several years ago.  –The inscription alone inspires me..-thank you my dear sons….they know me so well!

2-If you could go to a spa and get any treatment they provided, what would you get?

Aromatherapy Massage, facial, and a paraben wax treatment on the feet and hands-Hello!!! Throw in champagne, a soft chair and a good book and I am toast!

3-If you could go back in time, would you have followed a different career path than you did? What would it be?

Sort of… If money were no object-A destination based wellness retreat specialist – I would cook, teach yoga, lead hikes, evening meditations for my attendees.. I would do this all over the world.  Of course I would have to do a lot of research wouldn’t I  :>)

4-You can plan any type of vacation you want. Would you want relaxing or adventurous?

I can’t have both?  Wait-Yes- I think I can have both!!  I prefer to take a, whatever strikes my mood, day by day, kind of vacation

5-What food do you hide from your kids and sneak after they go to bed?

Sadly, that would have to be past tense….  And I pretty much always enjoyed having the dessert with them.  Except maybe if there was only one cookie left and that is only if I could beat Mitch to it..-You know I am right Mitch so don’t deny it :.)

6-What TV show (that is currently on) are you addicted to?

I still dig Greys Anatomy but I did get a little, ok, no that’s not true, ridiculously addicted to Breaking Bad-OMG- that was crazy stuff

7-What was the best book you’ve ever read?

Sorry I cannot name just one. Here are a few highlights

The Firm, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Circle of Friends, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Like Water for Chocolate, Strayed,.. I have one more but I can not tell you since it has not officially been released-PJ this one’s for you!!!              This could go on all day-I Love reading and have a wide variety of things I enjoy reading

8-Do you play a musical instrument? If not, what would you play if you could?

Guitar-I had my grandmothers guitar restrung with steel strings with the intention of learning only to come to the realization that I had neither the discipline nor the fingers for it. My sons however both played it-which makes me so happy and they are Great!!! We have a musical family, including my husband, who plays a few instruments and he sings to me on occasion.  Alas, I can sing only in the car and only well in the shower and when being silly-My guys, they do humor me though.

9-What was the first and last concert you’ve been to?

Bad Company in 1978- It was “bitchen man” :>)   they sounded better than my scratchy album that I had played a thousand and one times.  I still remember it. It was at the Forum, the lights went down and the whole place was filled with the smell of mary jane. I will not comment further other than to say I was both shocked and amazed at how everyone just seemed to do their own thing and no one else seemed to mind-very laid back

10-What is your favorite holiday? Christmas for sure!  I love that people I haven’t seen all year are all together. I love all the tradition around it. I love to cook for everyone and give of myself and have people accept it. The family pictures, the hugs from my aunties and uncles and all the kids running around.  I wish it was more than once a year..  I will miss not cutting down our Christmas tree together with my sons… It is just not do-able anymore. But oh those memories!

Now I have the distinct pleasure of Nominating these women for the  Sunshine Blogger Award and acknowledging them for their inspiring, creative blogs and for the enjoyment and encouragement they have given me.  Thank you Ladies-You  Rock!
